Once again, the beaches of Kavala are being recognized for their cleanliness, organization, and natural beauty, earning the prestigious Blue Flag – an internationally renowned distinction that guarantees quality for every visitor. In the summer of 2025, 14 beaches in Kavala and 5 in Thassos will welcome locals and tourists alike, proudly flying the Blue Flag.
This accolade, awarded by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN), is a testament to the ongoing efforts of local authorities and businesses to offer a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Since 1992, the HSPN has been the national operator of the Blue Flag program in Greece. The Blue Flag is a global symbol of excellence, awarded in more than 50 countries to organized beaches, marinas, and even boats that meet strict environmental and operational criteria. These are typically managed by coastal municipalities, hotels, and other responsible entities.
With 623 awarded beaches, Greece maintains its position as the second-ranked country globally among 52 nations, accounting for 15% of all international Blue Flag awards. This remarkable achievement reflects the country’s steady progress in enhancing its coastal destinations, driven by high-quality services and strong environmental awareness.
